The public tender process for the design and construct of the new Gipps Street Bridge in Port Fairy has now closed and officers are working through a detailed evaluation of the submissions received. This process follows Council's adopted Procurement Policy and Procedures.
Further updates will be provided as we progress the tender process towards a design and construct contract.
The bridge replacement project is being funded through a $5 million grant under the Federal Government’s Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program. The remaining $2.76 million of the $7.76 million project is being funded by Moyne Shire Council.
A Community Reference Group has also been established with a wide range of community representatives selected from an Expression of Interest process that was promoted publicly in October last year.
The purpose of the group is to:
- Support transparent, ongoing engagement across the life of the project.
- Enable sharing of community concerns, questions, and ideas.
- Improve Council’s project communications.
- Act as a conduit between Council and the broader community.
The group's first meeting will be held on Monday 2 March 2026 and quarterly across the life of the project.
