Works update January 2025

Moyne Shire Council will be commencing works on the refurbishment of the Port Fairy East Beach amenities block in Beach Street as part of the redevelopment project. These amenities will be closed to public use from Wednesday 29 January for approximately 3-4 months.

Portaloo facilities including DDA restrooms will be provided close to the current amenities building. Council will also be providing additional Portaloo facilities to cover the weekend of the Port Fairy Surf Life Saving Club Nippers Carnival on Sunday 2 February. Toilet amenity provision over the main works period will be equal to that provided at the current amenities block.

Due to site safety during the works and user safety of the portable facilities, there will be a loss of carparking in Beach Street between the current amenities block and the Surf Life Saving Club. This is unavoidable and we appreciate people’s patience as we work to complete the upgrades and improvements to the East Beach Precinct.

A site map of the new facilities for both the Nippers event and for the duration of the refurbishment works is below. The red line denotes site fencing and no public access.

Amenities block refurbishment works will include replacement of all fixtures and fittings including toilets, showers, hand basins and cubicles, new floor and wall tiling, provision of an upgraded accessible bathroom, internal and external painting, new windows, external cladding, landscaping and new external showers on the beach side of the building. Works will be undertaken by local contractors and trades.

Other works to be completed by the end of May include:

  • BBQs and BBQ shelters
  • Final landscaping
  • Completion of streetlighting installation
  • Completion of roadworks outside the amenities block including parallel parking bays
  • Final drainage
  • Installation of final street furniture and signage
  • Site tidy up
  • Official opening details for July to be confirmed.

It has been great to see residents and visitors enjoying the new Precinct over the summer holidays and Council will continue to ensure that site and access disruptions are minimised during final stage works.
