INTRODUCTION

Moyne Shire has commenced a process that will review the existing land use and future directions for growth in the Shire. The Moyne Futures Blueprint – Land Use Strategy will deliver a strategy that sets the direction for land use, growth and development within the Moyne Shire for the next 20 years.

Moyne Shire spans an area of approximately 5,478km2 and includes the townships of Port Fairy, Mortlake, Macarthur, Koroit, Caramut, Garvoc, Woolsthorpe, Hawkesdale, Kirkstall, Ellerslie, Panmure, Peterborough, Framlingham, Hexham.

The population of Moyne is growing modestly with the strongest demand for growth predominantly in coastal areas. Port Fairy is the district town of the Shire with the greatest population, followed by Koroit and Mortlake. The rural areas, small townships and rural settlements account for the balance of the Shire’s population with growth pressures experienced in towns proximate to Warrnambool, such as Koroit.

PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY

Council is keen to hear about community values, issues and concerns as it prepares the Land Use Strategy. Everybody is encouraged to provide feedback including residents, visitors, businesses, and government stakeholders.

This survey provides the community and other stakeholders with an initial opportunity to share their views on the future growth and development in Moyne Shire. The survey will provide useful context to the key issues and opportunities that the community feel exist in the Shire.

The survey will assist in informing the Land Use Strategy and provide the project team with valuable background.

The survey will run until Friday 31 January 2025. Please note your privacy is important to us.

There will be further opportunities for the community to provide input during the preparation of the Land Use Strategy.
