Next steps - March 2026

The Draft Environment and Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan Matrix 2026-2036 was released for community engagement from 9am Monday 9 February 2026 and closed on Sunday 22 March 2026 at 9pm.

Thank you to all who provided feedback.

Council is currently reviewing and analysing all submissions, and this feedback will help shape the final versions.

A summary report from the community engagement will be published on our website, and shared with Council. We’ll also show how community input has shaped the final strategy.

Your feedback can influence:

  • What Council focuses on most, and where effort or funding is directed

  • Which actions are included, changed or removed from the Strategy and Action Plan Matrix

  • Ideas for projects, programs, collaborations or incentives

  • New environmental priorities not currently included

  • Wording, tone and accessibility of the Strategy

  • How Council reports back to the community on progress

Your feedback can’t influence:

  • Projects or activities outside the scope of this Strategy eg planning scheme amendments

  • Major energy project approvals (including offshore wind, seismic testing or gas exploration) — Council can advocate, but is not the decision-maker

  • Places not owned or managed by Moyne Shire Council (e.g. Tower Hill, Budj Bim National Park, Deen Maar)

  • Roads and roadsides not under Council authority (e.g. Princes Highway and other arterial roads managed by VicRoads)

  • Fees and charges already adopted by Council, such as current transfer station fees
